Matt Pocock Teach Skill: Learn Any Topic Across Sessions

Turn curiosity into a learning path that remembers where you are.

Matt Pocock's Teach Skill builds a stateful learning workspace around a mission, lessons, reference files, and learning records, so a topic can continue across sessions. Teach is the learning path; Handoff and Grill Me are separate skills.

About This Skill

Teach is Matt Pocock's learning-workspace Skill. Start with a topic and mission, then work through lessons with references and learning records that make the next session legible. It is separate from Handoff and Grill Me.

What We Improved

Keep the depth you came for. Get clearer starting points, practical guidance and an explicit finish line.

01

A stateful-workspace trigger and entity boundary

Choose Teach for a stateful learning workspace with user-only invocation, distinct from Matt’s Handoff and Grill Me siblings.

02

A lesson-sized win for each session

Turn each session toward one mission-linked lesson win instead of an unbounded topic dump.

03

A lesson handoff check

Carry the lesson, linked reference, primary source, and next practice step into the next session.

Start with a Mission

  1. 1Name the topic, why you want to learn it, your current level, and what you want to be able to do.
  2. 2Invoke Teach and let the learning workspace define a mission, first lesson, useful references, and a record of the starting point.
  3. 3Work through one lesson at a time, asking questions and recording what changed in your understanding.
  4. 4Return to the workspace in the next session so the mission, references, and learning record choose the next useful lesson.
Example Command
Use Teach to learn TypeScript generics from my current level. Build a mission, start the first lesson, and record the next question.

Core Capabilities

Mission-led learning

Start from what you want to do with the topic instead of a generic list of facts.

Lesson progression

Break the mission into focused lessons that can be continued across sessions.

Reference workspace

Keep useful reference files alongside the learning path rather than scattering them across turns.

Learning records

Record the current understanding, open questions, and next lesson so the workspace carries state forward.

Use Cases

Learn a programming topic

Build a mission and lessons around a language, API, or engineering concept.

Study a new domain

Keep references and questions attached to a multi-session subject.

Return to an unfinished lesson

Open the learning record and continue from the last concrete question or artifact.

# Teach

This page is bound to Matt Pocock's MIT-licensed productivity/teach child at commit 321658273cb1d20b76026717d027d505790106d4. It is a distinct source entity from the sibling productivity/handoff and grill-me Skills.

The source job is a stateful learning workspace: define a mission, work through lessons, keep reference files available, and record learning state for the next session. This fixture records those source-defined boundaries without claiming that a learner completed a lesson, retained the topic, or received a particular teaching outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Teach Skill by Matt Pocock?
Teach is Matt Pocock’s learning-workspace Skill for turning a topic into a mission, lessons, references, and learning records that can continue across sessions.
Is Teach the same as Matt’s Handoff Skill?
No. Teach maintains a learning workspace. Handoff writes a compact continuation document for another agent or session. They are separate child Skills with separate source paths.
What does the Teach workspace save?
The source-defined workspace carries the mission, lessons, reference files, learning state, open questions, and next steps needed to resume the topic. Exact host paths depend on the live installation.
How do I start a lesson?
Run `npx skills@latest add mattpocock/skills`, select the productivity/teach child, then invoke it with a topic, current level, and desired capability. The live workspace chooses its own files and lesson path.
What should I bring to the first Teach session?
Bring a topic, your current level, why you want to learn it, and the capability you want to gain. Teach can use those inputs to shape the mission and first lesson.
